FARA believes utilization review is another vital component of a successful integrated approach. Our claims management team and utilization review team work together throughout the life of the applicable case. All medical management documentation is embedded within FARA's claims management information system (iClaimsExpert).
I have worked with FARA for many, many years now and have been quite pleased with the quality and care received as it regards our claims processing needs. The bill review department audits a voluminous amount of our claims and gets them to us in a timely manner. I have worked with FARA Nurse Case Managers and feel that they are all very qualified nurses who are very well versed in their area of concentration. We are able to work really well together in getting some resolution in a majority of our claims. Also, the precertification nurses are very good at what they do and are always ready to lend a hand in finding solutions to the why of authorizing or not authorizing tests, procedures, physical / occupational therapy, etc. All in all, I am quite pleased with the work performed by F.A. FARA utilizes experienced nurses to administer its utilization review program that are knowledgeable in state and federal medical treatment guidelines and utilization review regulations.
To achieve cost savings, FARA has taken measures to ensure that its clients are in the best position available. FARA is working with a pharmacy benefit management partner to assist in obtaining the lowest pharmacy cost in the industry. We have also developed trigger reports to identify over-utilization, unsafe prescribing procedures, and opportunities for reductions in medication costs. Additionally, FARA has partnered with our own Medical Director and a nationally-accredited peer review company for peer and specialty reviews to ensure that the cost savings to not come at the expense of quality care.
